Eucalyptus & Peppermint (for colds & sinus)

As a young child, my mother used to dose just about everything that was wrong with me or my sisters with Olbas. The wonderful minty smell filled our home for decades and now, here I am, doing the same thing. "Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all" :^)

But, you see, fact is that this lovely scented oil really works for many ailments.

It is a blend of essential oils, many of which mean nothing to me (Cajeput? Wintergreen? Bergamot??) but the combination somehow soothes the mind and body. Olbas can be inhaled, or massaged into the skin or gums (wonderful, truly wonderful for toothache). You can pour it onto soft cotton wool balls and rest them in your ears overnight and wow! earache goes away.

Every one of my children, on long winter nights when they were full of cold and it was hard to sleep, were calmed by the presence in their bedroom of a bowl of boiling water with a few drops of Olbas which filled the room with a scent which aids breathing.
